Website for an Auto Detailing Company: 5 Questions to Answer Before You Build

I run Prime Shine Mobile Detailing in Virginia Beach, and I built its website myself. If you’re about to get a website for your detailing company, these are the five questions I’d want answered before you spend a dollar or a weekend on it.

Does a detailing shop need a different website than a mobile detailer?

Mostly no. The core is the same for both: what you do, price ranges, a booking button, real reviews and your own photos. I covered that list in what should be on a detailing website.

The difference is the “where.” If you have a shop, your address, hours and a map need to be easy to find, and the address on your site should match your Google Business Profile exactly. Tell people how drop-off works and how long you usually keep the car.

If you’re mobile like me, there’s no address to show. You show your service area instead. Say “we come to you” at the top, list the cities you cover, and say whether you need anything from the customer, like a place to park or access to water and power. For mobile detailers, a page for each city matters even more, because you don’t have a storefront pin on the map doing that work for you.

Should you build it yourself or pay someone?

I built mine myself. It’s custom-coded, and it took me about a month to get right. Before that I went five or six months with a Google Doc and a QR code as my “website,” and people thought it looked like a scam.

So yes, you can do it yourself. But the pages are the easy part. The parts that take time are getting booking connected, getting your reviews to show up on the site, making city pages Google will actually pick up, and making sure it loads fast on a phone, because that’s where your customers are looking.

Here’s how I’d decide. If you like this kind of thing and you have slow days to spare, build it. If every hour you spend on it is an hour you’re not on a car, pay someone. Either way, don’t sit on a Google Doc for six months like I did.

How much does a website for a detailing company cost?

It depends on who builds it, and it varies a lot.

  • Do it yourself on a website builder: a monthly subscription plus your own time. Cheap in dollars, expensive in hours.
  • Hire a freelancer or an agency: anywhere from cheap to very expensive. Don’t compare the price alone. Ask if booking is included, how many city pages you get, and whether the domain and the site are in your name.

Our builds at Level Digital Studio start at $899. The Level build, at $1,699, includes the booking integration, a Google reviews feed and five city pages, which is pretty much everything a detailer needs.

A simple way to think about it: if an interior deep clean runs $200 to $350 like mine does, a $899 site is paid back by somewhere around three to five jobs. After that, every booking it brings in is yours.

What domain name should a detailing company use?

Your business name, and a .com if you can get it. If it’s taken, add your city or your area code. Mine is primeshinedetail757.com. 757 is the Hampton Roads area code, so it tells local people we’re local.

A few rules I’d stick to:

  • No hyphens or creative spellings. You’ll be saying it out loud on the phone and printing it on cards.
  • Register it in your own account, not your designer’s. If you ever part ways, the domain goes with you.
  • Get an email on the same domain. You@yourbusiness.com looks like a real company. A random free email address is one more thing that makes people wonder if you’re legit, and I already learned that lesson with the Google Doc.

How long before a new detailing website brings in customers?

For me, it was fast. In the first week after the real site went live, I got a customer. Two weeks later, three more orders. And it’s been steady contacts since then.

I won’t promise every site does that. Some of it depends on things that were already in place, like reviews and how people were finding you before. What the site does right away is turn the people who already look you up into bookings, instead of losing them to the guy with the better-looking page.

Showing up for new searches, like “auto detailing near me” in your city, takes longer. That’s SEO, and it usually takes one to two months to start showing results, then it keeps growing. If you need jobs this month, run ads alongside it. My rule is 70% ads and 30% SEO if it’s urgent, and the other way around if it isn’t. I went through my real numbers on that in SEO vs Google Ads for small business.

The short version

  • Shop: address, hours and map, matching your Google Business Profile. Mobile: service area, “we come to you” and a page per city.
  • DIY if you have the time. Pay someone if your hours are worth more on a car.
  • Compare what’s included, not only the price: booking, city pages, and who owns the domain.
  • A short .com with your name, and your area code if you need it. Email on the same domain.
  • The site turns lookups into bookings right away. New search traffic takes SEO and a bit of patience, or ads if you can’t wait.

Want your detailing website built for you?

This is what we do at Level Digital Studio. You don’t have to learn booking connections, domains or city pages yourself. We build it, connect it, and hand it to you ready to take jobs.

  • A website that books jobs. Website builds start at $899 flat. The Level build ($1,699) comes with the booking integration, a Google reviews feed and five city pages. If you’d rather not pay up front, Foundation is $199 a month on a 12-month term, with no upfront build fee.
  • Domain and email set up right. Branded email on your own domain, set up on your phone, is $79. Need a look to go with it? Logo and brand kit from $350.
  • SEO management. So you show up when people search for detailing in your cities. SEO plans start at $299 a month, month to month.
  • Ads management. When you need jobs now, we run Google Ads from $299 a month plus ad spend, and Google Local Services Ads from $250 a month.
  • Care plans. Hosting, backups, updates and small edits from $49 a month, so the site keeps working while you’re out on jobs.

I built this for my own detailing business first. If you’re not sure where to start, the free site read below is the easiest first step.

Questions detailers ask me

How much does a website for an auto detailing company cost?

It depends on who builds it. A website builder costs a monthly subscription plus your own time. Hired builds vary a lot, so compare what is included: booking, city pages and whether the domain is in your name. At Level Digital Studio, builds start at $899, and the Level build at $1,699 includes booking, a Google reviews feed and five city pages.

Should I build my detailing website myself?

You can. I built mine myself and it took about a month. The hard parts are connecting booking, showing your reviews, city pages Google will pick up and fast loading on phones. If your hours are worth more on a car, pay someone.

What is a good domain name for a detailing business?

Your business name as a .com. If it is taken, add your city or area code, like primeshinedetail757.com. Avoid hyphens and odd spellings, register it in your own account, and use an email on the same domain.

How long does it take a detailing website to get customers?

It can be fast for people who already look you up. I got a customer the first week after my site went live and three more orders two weeks later. Ranking for new searches takes SEO, usually one to two months before results start showing, so run ads alongside it if you need jobs now.
